It was not long ago when Nintendo and X-Box only had clunky PC’s to compete with.  Thanks to tablets and the Apple iPad this is not longer the case.   Now, no need to have to get dressed, go to the store and purchase a game that you may or may not enjoy.  Instead, roll out of bed, click download (paying a portion of the price), and start playing within minutes.

A look at some of the hottest games for the iPad today!

Honorable Mention: Angry Birds Space

If you haven’t heard of Angry Birds by now you need help, or at least an OUNCE of exposure to pop culture.  It is everywhere!  Games, merchandising, and even movies, yes, it’s hard to avoid Angry Birds mania….and yes, Angry Birds Space has been touted to be as good as the original.  Is it?  Sort of, “space” incorporates changes with gravity and new levels as well as eye popping designs.  Of course, in the end, it’s Angry Birds and that seems to be all that really matters. Download now if you want to be part of the cool kids club.

5.     Beat Sneak Bandit

If you enjoy character based games with multi-levels and adventurous searching for items while trying to elude capture than Simogo’s Beat Sneak Bandit is for you.  The animation is stellar, the puzzles challenging, and music to make you nostalgic for the old game consoles.

4.     FIFA 12 HD

Hands down most place FIFA 12 and EA Sports as THE sports game.  Last year’s version (FIFA 11) was impressive, but it’s this year’s management and control options that take this game to the next level.  What if I told you that you can use your iPhone (or iPod Touch) as a controller for a game on your iPad?  Pretty sure I just heard you say “AWESOME!”  It’s here as well as better graphics and all the great functionality that made FIFA 11 a hit.  Sometimes it’s not worth buying the latest and greatest, here is one case where it’s definitely worth it!

3.     Fruit Ninja: Puss In Boots HD

If you enjoy the original Fruit Ninja you will like this one.  “Puss In Boots” offers a new mode with sub challenges, adding new variety to the initial Fruit Ninja game.  The only reason not to download is if you don’t like movie/game tie-ins, in this case, download the original Fruit Ninja.

2.    Max Payne Mobile

From the makers of Grand Theft Auto, Rockstar Games brings their latest M-rated console game for the iPhone and iPad. Max Payne is the first in a series and the bullet-time shooting action is a great match for touch-screen controls…and isn’t that what we are all searching for in life?

1.       Words With Friends

When everyone is playing, there’s a reason.  We could put Draw Something on here as well, but I’m not sure to classify this as a game or more of a fun application.  Two points about Words With Friends, first, it’s definitely a game, and second, it’s the biggest rip off of a board game (Scrabble) then anyone ever thought possible!
